HRT Wins Award from National Transportation Association

American Public Transportation Association awards 1st place AdWheel to goHRT.com

HRT recognized at 2007Annual Meeting in Charlotte, NC

Norfolk, VA - HRT was recognized at the 2007 American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Annual Meeting in Charlotte, NC for winning first place in the “Internet Homepage” category of the 28th Annual Adwheel Awards. As the first place winner in the category, HRT has the opportunity to win a grand prize in that division during the Annual Meeting.

The goHRT.com website was revamped and launched in late 2006, offering users easier site navigation and up-to-date information on HRT bus schedules and services. In November 2006, HRT launched a promotional campaign for the new goHRT.com website which included radio and television advertisements, goHRT.com signage on the interior and exterior of buses, and a bulk mailing campaign. Last week, HRT launched Google Transit, a free trip planning software that allows riders to enter their origin and destination online and in turn, receive a detailed itinerary using public transportation.

The APTA AdWheel Awards is an annual competition held to honor member organizations in areas of advertising, promotion, marketing, and communications. Entries were judged in groups by each system’s number of annual passenger trips and are submitted at the organization’s discretion for various categories including special events and online media. Winners were chosen and notified in August 2007and will be recognized officially today at the APTA Annual Meeting.
