HRT Unveils New Regional Express Service
HRT Unveils New Regional Express Service Today, HRT unveiled the name and logo of its new regional express bus service. The MAX or Metro Area Express was selected after HRT asked the public to choose a name and logo for the new upcoming service.
Once service begins, The MAX will provide commuters with a fast, easy, and reliable way to get to work no matter where in Hampton Roads. The new fleet will be comprised of 29, 40-foot buses. Externally, the fleet will bear a unique metallic silver and blue design along with the new MAX logo appearing on the side of each bus. Internally, The MAX buses will have plush high-back seats and additional leg room, allowing for extra comfort and easy mobility. HRT is also in the process of procuring Wi-Fi connections, which would allow customers to surf the internet or check e-mail while riding the bus.
Although routes have yet to be finalized, service is expected to touch each city in Hampton Roads. The MAX includes major new routes such as service between Downtown Norfolk and the Virginia Beach Oceanfront and integrates existing service to major employment centers such as Naval Station Norfolk. The MAX will utilize park and ride facilities around the region and only stop at major transfer points to allow for further transportation connections. Service is expected to run from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm on weekdays. The MAX is slated to launch in Spring of 2008. For more information, click here
